Emilio
Arteaga was born in Uruguay and is now living in Ireland. He first
arrived in Europe (France) in 1969 and soon began playing with
several small groups in the Quartier Latin of Paris. After about
a year Emilio was invited to join Los Incas, marking the start
of a long standing involvement and friendship with Jorge Milchberg
- director of Los Incas.
During this initial period in Paris and later when travelling the world, Emilio participated on a number of musical recordings:
Emilio Arteaga et Los Yungas
Emilio was asked by Hector Miranda, director of Los Calchakis, to make an album that focused on the Charango, the unique guitar-like instrument from the Andes. Emilio arranged and collaborated with many contemporary musicans living and passing through Paris at the time to complete the recording of Le Charango des Hauts Plateaux.
