We chose to perform an interpretation of the "Misa Criolla" by the Argentine composer Ariel Ramirez a piece that was already innovative when written, both for the universal dimension of the music and for the quality of its message. The message, in spite of its ceremonial character, may also be interpreted as an appeal for world peace and for understanding among all the people of the planet, whatever their faith.
Out of respect for the original tone of this
composition and with a focus on its interesting combination of
traditional rhythms and wealth of contemporary music, we sought
to maintain the spirit of the piece by including sounds and trends
from current popular music.
We also wished to provide a further dimension to the stage presentation
by combining a live music performance with a constantly changing
virtual set - created by projecting 2D and 3D video images onto
carefully placed stage props.
The performance lasts between 30 and 50 minutes
depending on the audiovisual sequences added to the five original
movements.
